BEACHES
An island with unending stretches of swaying palm fringed beautiful tropical beaches and white sand lapped inviting blue waters and coral reefs – where one’s stresses and cares fade into pure warm relaxation amidst the charm and peace that prevails all around.
Negombo
Travelling northwards from Colombo (along the Hamilton Dutch Canal) avoiding the main trunk route to the airport, passing by Catholic Villages, you arrive at Negombo - the fishing village - nick named 'Little Rome' owing to the predominance of Roman Catholics in this little fishing town by the sea. Negombo, though a beach town, is more a spot to visit en route to the cultural parts of Sri Lanka opting for beach stays in the more acceptable western coast of Sri Lanka.

An interesting stop-point here is the stentorian 'hoom-mane' -The noisy blow-hole - the only one in the Island and considered the second largest of the six known blow-holes in the world. Its spectacular displays are better viewed in the months of June and July - with the on-set of the south west monsoon - where one could see a fountain of water shooting up to an height of over 20 meters and forming on top an umbrella like formation, coming down in a spring that can easily drench you.
